There is an easy way to remove tight fitting rubber cane tips. Take a razor knife or box cutter with a sharp blade and put the point of the blade under the sleeve of the tip with the blade laying flat on the cane surface, then slice towards the end, then open the slice and pull off the tip. To avoid scratching the cane end, don't allow the blade point to contact the cane. Make sure the blade lays flat against the metal to avoid scratching and always cut away from yourself and not towards anyone. See the video below.
